## Embracing Our Identity in Christ by Andi Becker  Good morning, beloved church community! Today, we gather to explore and celebrate the incredible gift of our identity in Christ—a gift that transforms us and gives us a new purpose and meaning in life. Our identity is no longer shaped by our past mistakes or the world's standards but by our union with Christ. Let us delve into the depth of this gift, understand its significance, and be motivated to live out our identity in Christ with confidence and purpose. Let’s reflect on our today’s topic with a prayer: Heavenly Father, we come before you with grateful hearts, acknowledging the gift of our identity in Christ. Help us, Lord, to understand and embrace this gift fully. Inspire us to live confidently as new creations in Christ, fulfilling the purpose you have for each of us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen. ### I. The New Creation in Christ As followers of Christ, we are transformed into new creations. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" Through our faith in Christ, we experience a radical change, leaving behind our old selves and embracing a new identity in Him. Our new identity is not based on our achievements, possessions, or external appearances. It is rooted in our relationship with Christ. Galatians 2:20 declares, "I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Our identity is found in being united with Christ, and it is by His grace that we can live transformed lives. ### II. Freedom from Labels and Conformity In Christ, we are set free from the labels and expectations of the world. We are no longer defined by our past failures or the opinions of others. Our worth and value come from being children of God. Romans 8:16-17 affirms, "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ." The world may try to conform us to its standards, but our true identity lies in Christ. We are called to live authentically as the unique individuals God has created us to be. Let us not be swayed by worldly pressures, but embrace our identity in Christ with confidence. ### III. Living Out Our Identity Discovering our identity in Christ is just the beginning. We are called to live out this identity and walk in the fullness of God's purpose for our lives. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." God has designed a unique plan for each of us, and our identity in Christ empowers us to fulfill that plan. As we understand our identity, let us live with purpose and intentionality. Let our words and actions reflect the love, grace, and truth of Christ. May we use our gifts and talents to serve others and make a positive impact in our communities. ## Let’s pray! Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of our identity in Christ. Help us, Lord, to live confidently as new creations, free from the labels and expectations of the world.
