The second day.--This does not mean the day after the first battle. One full day at least--the day of supplication--must have intervened between the two battles.

The second day. Not necessarily, or probably, the next day, but the day of the second battle.
17:7-13 Micah thought it was a sign of God's favour to him and his images, that a Levite should come to his door. Thus those who please themselves with their own delusions, if Providence unexpectedly bring any thing to their hands that further them in their evil way, are apt from thence to think that God is pleased with them.
And the children of Israel came near,.... To the city of Gibeah, drew nigh to battle:
against the children of Benjamin the second day; for the two battles were fought two days successively.
