And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the Lord.--A unique verse in every respect. The treasures were consecrated, and they were committed to consecrated hands: a good account was to be given of them to the treasurers of the Temple.
Verse 28. -
Ye are holy. Consecrated to God by their office, the priests and Levites were the fitting custodians of consecrated things.
8:24-30 Do we expect that God should, by his providence, keep that which belongs to us, let us, by his grace, keep that which belongs to him. Let God's honour and interest be our care; and then we may expect that our lives and comforts will be his.
And I said unto them, ye are holy unto the Lord, the vessels are holy also,.... As they were dedicated and set apart to holy service, so the vessels were sacred to holy uses, and therefore not to be converted to any other:
and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the Lord God of your fathers: and therefore not to be made use of but in his service.
